About Borna
Borna Gojo, born in the tennis-rich city of Split, Croatia, on February 27, 1998, embarked on his tennis journey at the age of 12, later than most of his peers. Despite this late start, Borna’s talent quickly became evident, and he rose through the ranks, eventually making his mark on the ATP Tour. He made his ATP Tour debut at 20 years old in Winston-Salem, showcasing his potential to the world. In 2019, Borna suffered setbacks due to injury, but his determination never wavered. A breakthrough moment came in 2022 when Borna won his first Challenger title in Ortisei and secured his first Grand Slam main draw win at Roland-Garros as a qualifier. By 2023, Borna’s hard work paid off as he cracked the top 100, reaching a career-high ranking of No. 74 ATP. His impressive performances, including qualifying for Masters 1000 main draws and reaching the last 16 at the US Open, solidified his status as a rising star in the tennis world.
About Borna
Borna Gojo – 25 y/o – is born in the magic cauldron of Split where many Croatian tennis legends are from. Unlike most players, he does not have an early junior background and only started tennis at 12 y/o. Borna studied at the Wake Forest University in the USA. In 2018, he helped his university win their first-ever NCAA championship and Borna was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Championship. Ranked no. 663 at the beginning of 2018, he ended the year no. 335. In 2019, Borna suffered from an injury which slowed down his progression and he debuted on the ATP Tour at 20 y/o in Winston Salem. Selected for the 1st time in the 2019 Davis Cup in his junior year, Borna revealed himself to the general public where he hanged in against Nadal whereas he was ranked no. 280. In 2020, Borna decided to skip his senior year and to turn professional. At the 2021 Davis Cup, Borna showed again his talent to the world beating Popyrin, Sonego, and Lajovic before hanging in against Rublev. In 2022, Borna won his 1st Challenger title in Ortisei, got his first Grand Slam Main Draw win in Roland-Garros as a qualifier and won his 1st Main Draw match in an ATP 500 in Washington.
2023 has been the breakthrough for Borna, qualifying for Masters 1000 main draws and reaching the last 16 at the US Open, losing only to Djokovic. He cracked the top 100 and is now no.74 ATP.
